Orchard Bar Interior Design

Orchard is Hong Kong’s very first fruit spirit cocktail bar, and the owners wanted its design to reflect this originality. The brief was to show off the elevated drinks in a design based on nature through the innovative use of organic materials, forms, and color to “evoke a feeling of a hidden gem with a natural, welcoming, relaxing feel.”

The challenge was to entirely reconfigure the bar from a dark, dingy, claustrophobic space with no light, to one with a nod to nature and a bright, clean, expansive feel despite its small size and low ceilings. The entire front entry also needed to be rebuilt from an unwelcoming street level door to something that would entice patrons to “step into the orchard.”

The resulting design completely transformed the space: The numerous unique elements [a double height sintered stone feature wall reminiscent of hanging vines, an undulating ceiling composed of wooden strips evoking the feeling of waving tree branches overhead, and a color palette of jewel tones all found in nature in ripening fruit] have elevated the interiors to a new level.
